Today is Earth Day and I challenge you all to think of some things you can do to treat our environment a little better. We are called to be good stewards of what God gave us and I firmly believe that includes the 3 R’s. Doesn’t have to be some big thing – little things are great and a lot of little things add up!
There are tons of websites out there with tons of ideas. If you need inspiration, just do a search for “earth day activities” or “ways to recycle” or something similar.
Here are some ideas that I can come up with off the top of my head as I’m quickly getting ready for work this morning:
Reduce: take a faster shower to reduce how much water is used, walk to the store instead of driving – saves gas, don’t buy bread that has an extra wrapper around it – reduces waste, turn off the lights when you’re not using them.
Reuse: wash out ziploc bags and use them again, reuse leftover containers from restaurants, buy from thrift stores or places like ReStore
Recycle: put materials in the recycle instead of the trash – sounds easy enough but I’m surprised how many people throw plastic water bottles away when there’s a recycle can adjacent to the trash can.
If you click on the “Home” category of this blog, you’ll see what I’ve posted so far about reusing materials. Pretty fun stuff! What ideas do you have? Feel free to share in the comments!
Happy Earth Day to you all! I hope you have a splendid day!
Here’s something that makes me smile:
