Pizza Nachos

Hello, everyone! I learned yesterday that it’s playoff time (or something like that) for football.  If there’s a football fan in your house, like there is mine, some tasty snacks will be greatly appreciated.  It’s not me (the football fan) but I do like a yummy snack so it works out well here.

We both like pizza.

We both like nachos.

Why not combine the two into something wonderful?

Pizza Nachos

Pizza Nachos
from Tasty Kitchen

Ingredients
Whatever kind of tortilla chips you like
1/2 c garlic sauce (recipe below)
Your favorite pizza toppings (I used pepperoni, green pepper and mushrooms)
1 c shredded colby-jack cheese (or whatever you like)

Garlic Cream Sauce:
1-½ T unsalted butter
½ T olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ c heavy cream
¼ c 2% milk
1 pinch salt
1 pinch black pepper
1 pinch red pepper flakes
¼ c parmesan cheese, grated

What To Do
Make the garlic cream sauce first: Begin by melting the butter, along with the olive oil on medium to low heat. Once melted, toss in the minced garlic, and give a good stir. Raise the heat up to medium, to medium-high. Add in the cream and milk and give a good stir. Keep stirring until it comes to a boil. Toss in the salt, pepper, and chili flakes, along with the cheese, and continue stirring. The sauce will thicken pretty quickly, so continue to stir. Once the sauce is thickened, remove from the burner, and set aside.

When you are ready to make your nachos, preheat your oven to 400ºF. Build your nachos on an oven-proof dish. First add your chips. Drizzle the garlic cream sauce all over the chips. Top with your favorite pizza toppings.

Top with the Colby Jack cheese. Place in the preheated oven, and cook until the cheese is nice and bubbly and the veggies are warmed through, roughly 7 minutes or so.

My Comments
I left out the pepper flakes since I’m not a fan of the spicy things in life.

I just used a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil.  The Tasty Kitchen person used a cast iron skillet.

The extra garlic sauce keeps in the fridge for a few days.  You can use it on real pizza or as a dip for breadsticks.

Yum! This was easy and fun to put together.  I can imagine having friends over and having a pizza nacho topping bar so people can create their own masterpieces.  I hope you enjoy this great snack…with or without football 🙂
